Information for Prospective Students

Students interested in joining the Baker Lab are encouraged to reach out to us directly at bakerlab@disl.org. We are always excited to connect with students who are passionate about coastal, estuarine, and nekton ecology. Before reaching out, be sure to familiarize yourself with our lab publications to learn how your interests and goals are compatible with our lab. If possible, be specific about projects or research areas you are most interested in (this is true when reaching out to any lab!). When getting in touch with us, also send along an attached copy of your most recent CV so we can learn more about your experiences and interests.

Prospective students should also consult the University of South Alabama School of Marine and Environmental Sciences webpage, check for eligibility to the program, and look over the course catalog. Take some time to review course offerings and additional opportunities with USA and DISL. Knowing more about course offerings and degree requirements will help you find the right fit for a graduate program.
